We're having a party, and gems are the main course!
Reserve your seats now for this mouthwatering special event...
Friday, September 17th, 2010 - Dinner Party in the evening (6pm - 9pm)
Sunday, September 19th, 2010 - Bruncheon in the early afternoon (11am - 2pm)
If you've never attended on of our Gem Roundtables, here's a summary of sorts: Micky's dear friend Judith Whitehead is a gem hunter, collector, and a longtime member of the American Gem Trade Association. She is also our dynamic, knowledgeable, and engaging "special guest" for a few select weekends a year. On these weekends, we create an opportunity for you to purchase unique and exciting gemstones in an intimate and socially relaxing setting. We call these events "Gem Roundtables" and while the focus may be on these breathtaking gems, the food and wine served is pretty good too!
The Friday evening - or Sunday afternoon - that unfolds includes lively conversation, many "oooohs" and "ahhhhs", and a great opportunity to discover the beauty and affordability of creating a custom design of your very own.
For each Gem Roundtable event, Judith selects over a hundred exciting gems and gemstone sets for us to present to you. We serve yummy food and fine wine and you get to feast on a banquet of beautiful jewels! Gem prices range from about $200 to $20,000 so there is a wide variety from which to choose. From fossilized sand dollars and designer-cut drusy quartz to paraiba tourmaline and flawless rubies, you might have a tough time choosing which gems you would like to purchase. (Hint: bring a friend or relative and "share"... lots of sets of pairs for earrings make absolutely gorgeous matching pendants for sisters or BFF's!)
It's entertaining, educational, and hands-on fun! But we do limit the seating to 20 people per event, so if you are interesting in attending any of these events, you should sign up for our e-newsletter "Inside the Jewelbox" because Jewelbox Insiders are always the first to know!
Gempowerment: n. - the feeling you get after attending one of our Gem Roundtables. We really mean it when we say that you will never look at jewelry the same way again!
Here are images from past events and custom designs.
And, of course, our popular Outrageous Opal Show with legendary opal miner, Bill Kasso, is tentatively planned for the first weekend in October: Friday & Saturday, October 8 - 9, 2010. During this once-a-year event, Bill comes to Ithaca from his mine in Australia with a treasure trove of his most recent, and truly outrageously beautiful, opals. For two days a year, we are lucky to have him personally available to answer questions, share stories, dispel myths, and help you pick your perfect opals. We also offer a "customer special" as a little extra incentive (hint, hint). If you have never seen Bill's opals, stop in to The Jewelbox and see our current selection of loose opals and finished opal jewelry. And if you are looking for a specific size or shape, let us know and we'll pass the message along to him! Sign up for our e-newsletter for updates and info!
